WEBVTT 00:00.000 --> 00:09.240 Hello everyone and welcome back to another episode of GRTV News. Today we're going to 00:09.240 --> 00:12.880 be continuing on a trend or a theme that we've been talking about as of the last couple of 00:12.880 --> 00:18.040 weeks because for some reason there's a lot of different job cuts and job losses that 00:18.040 --> 00:22.680 are taking place throughout the UK as of right now. Last week was a big thing about Sega 00:22.680 --> 00:28.440 and Creative Assembly after Sega decided to cut or cancel Hyenas. Around the same time 00:28.440 --> 00:34.960 Epic announced a ton of different job cuts, many of which seem to be impacting Mediatonic, 00:34.960 --> 00:39.880 the developer of Fall Guys. Now, to add to that, we're hearing reports that Team 17 is 00:39.880 --> 00:43.760 going to be facing restructuring, job losses and the possible departure of its CEO. So 00:43.760 --> 00:49.160 with that being the case, let's dive on in and take a look at what's happening. 00:49.160 --> 00:55.880 Team 17 faces restructuring, job losses and possible departure of CEO. The publisher of 00:55.880 --> 00:59.280 Blasphemous and the Worms series is facing more cuts, this time to the Quality Control 00:59.280 --> 01:06.080 team. We seem to have nothing but bad news for workers in the video game industry lately. 01:06.080 --> 01:09.520 After the almost 900 layoffs Epic Games and Sega's Creative Assembly last week, today 01:09.520 --> 01:13.720 we have to face cuts at Team 17, the well-known publisher of titles such as the two Blasphemous 01:13.720 --> 01:18.320 titles and the Worms series, among others. According to Eurogamer, the publisher has 01:18.320 --> 01:22.800 announced an internal statement, a restructuring that would affect the entire QA team, around 01:22.800 --> 01:27.080 150 employees, and that the company's current CEO, Michael Patterson, is also likely to 01:27.080 --> 01:31.720 leave the company soon. Although Team 17 has not issued an official statement, sources 01:31.720 --> 01:37.480 indicate that the main cause is the outsourcing of the QA team. This would be the second time 01:37.480 --> 01:41.960 in 2023 that Team 17 has made job cuts, with layoffs also affecting the internal development 01:41.960 --> 01:47.240 divisions last March. 01:47.240 --> 01:54.080 So yes, Team 17, this publisher that is known for its indie games, is going to be making 01:54.080 --> 02:02.280 some restructuring. Again, this has all been sent through an internal statement which likely 02:02.280 --> 02:07.760 means that it's more true than false, but as to the extent of what's happening, we'll 02:07.760 --> 02:12.320 have to see. It looks like, as it said there, the main thing is that they're going to be 02:12.320 --> 02:19.120 offloading the QA team, the quality assurance team, and instead relying on a third-party 02:19.120 --> 02:24.600 quality assurance team instead. So the actual rest of the company doesn't seem to be affected 02:24.600 --> 02:28.720 by this restructuring. That being said, if the CEO's leaving, there's going to be some 02:28.720 --> 02:33.800 changes at the executive level, at the top of the company. So as we know more about what's 02:33.800 --> 02:37.960 happening over at Team 17, we'll be sure to keep you posted and updated. The developer 02:37.960 --> 02:42.600 has a few different games that are coming out that it's publishing later this year, 02:42.600 --> 02:47.120 including I believe one of the next ones is Broken Roads, which is later this, I think 02:47.120 --> 02:54.480 maybe in October, this October. So yes, Team 17 has a busy end of the year still, but again, 02:54.480 --> 02:56.880 as we know more, be sure to keep you posted and updated. But yes, that's all the time 02:56.880 --> 03:00.960 we have on today's episode of GRTV News. We'll be back tomorrow for the next one of the week, 03:00.960 --> 03:03.680 so until then, hope you enjoy the rest of your Tuesday, and we'll see you all on the 03:03.680 --> 03:05.280 next one. Take care, everyone. 03:07.960 --> 03:09.960 Transcribed by https://otter.ai
